Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory does not a priori concern Asian territories. However, the Middle Asian region is particularly sensitive to this conflict, because of its characteristics similar to those of Ukraine vis-à-vis Russia.
FACTS
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has launched a strong military intervention in Ukraine, under the name « special military operation ». This is still in progress at the time of writing (April 4, 2022). This conflict does not concern, militarily speaking, Middle Asia. No state in the region is involved. Geopolitically, however, it is fraught with consequences for this region, which has historically been closely linked to Russia. [•••]
