Le 16 avril 2021, Le Conseil de l’Union européenne a déclaré son intérêt pour l’Indo-Pacifique et sa volonté d’y renforcer son influence et sa coopération. Les initiatives prise précédemment par la France, l’Allemagne, les Pays-Bas et le Danemark sont ainsi confirmées et soutenues au niveau communautaire, voire élargies. Sans hostilité, ce premier document – il sera suivi par un second, plus détaillé – rappelle à la Chine qu’il convient de respecter les règles internationales.
On April 16, 2021, the Council of the European Union declared its interest in the Indo-Pacific and its willingness to strengthen its influence and cooperation there. The initiatives previously taken by France, Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark are thus confirmed and supported at Community level, or even extended. Without hostility, this first document – it will be followed by a second, more detailed – reminds China to respect international rules.
